Philo’s Live Entertainment Offerings
Philo is a streaming service that really narrowed in on entertainment and lifestyle programming. Therefore, instead of trying to be a cable replacement, it is much more of an add-on. Below, we will be going over some of the pros and cons of Philo’s live entertainment offerings.
Pros And Cons Of Philo’s Live Entertainment Offerings:
1. Price.
Philo entered the market with the purpose of being the lowest cost streaming service. While Philo did get rid of their cheapest package, they remain one of the cheapest streaming options on the market at $20 per month.
2. Channels.
With the $20 per month, you are able to get some of the most sought after channels including but not limited to the History Channel, MTV, AMC, BET, Nick Jr, and more. Ultimately, it offers a lot of lifestyle and entertainment programming for a very affordable price.
3. Features.
Philo offers some pretty outstanding features for its low price point. In addition to the various streaming channels, you are going to be able to take part in and enjoy over 25,000 on-demand titles and free cloud DVR functionality like a lot of the competition. However, the DVR functionality does come with a 30-day time limit which means that you don’t have the same freedom to store shows for too long.
4. Picture Quality.
Another thing that is likely to dictate how much you enjoy the service would be the picture quality. You will be able to enjoy a very consistent and good quality picture no matter what device you are using with Philo.
5. Streams.
With Philo, you are able to watch your content on up to 3 devices at a single time. Therefore, it is a viable option for families. This is a big plus as some of the other services will force you to pay to get 3 simultaneous streams.
Pros:
1. Affordable.
As mentioned above, the price is hard to beat. While SlingTV does offer a similar price for its service, you are getting more content with Philo.
2. Features.
Unlike Sling TV, you are getting DVR functionality included for free. With Sling, you have to pay extra if you want DVR functionality with their base package. Along with this, you are getting unlimited storage for your recordings.
Cons:
1. Limited To 30 Days.
Your recordings expire after 30 days. Therefore, you will need to watch them relatively quickly.
2. No Sports.
While the low price should make it obvious, you can’t expect live sports with Philo.
Overall, there is a lot to like about Philo and it’s various live entertainment offerings. If you are looking for an affordable live streaming service, you won’t find a much better option than Philo. The biggest downside with Philo comes with its DVR functionality having a time limit attached to it and the fact that it might be limited in terms of content. However, for the price, there isn’t much to complain about. The lack of live sports and local/regional channels enables them to offer their streaming service at a very affordable price.
